Our Hawaii (Oahu Island) Trip!!!
Rich in values and traditions, a blend of Eastern and Western influences have taken root on the Island of Oahu. This fusion brings different ideas and values together in one expansive Gathering Place. Open fields and scenic valleys give way to sandy beaches and powerful surf. High-end shopping and fine-dining establishments neighbor one-of-a-kind shops and family owned restaurants. These differences are what make Oahu such an exciting place to visit, a balanced existence on an island in the Pacific.
We visited Honolulu, Hawaii with our little one. We didn't rent the car and just used public transport to experience the local lives there.
Kalākaua Avenue and Waikiki Beach
We stayed at Hilton near Waikiki Beach and Kalākaua Avenue. The avenue is famous for big stores and very expensive shopping. To be honest, I didn't like the scenery of the Waikiki Beach as I felt it was too overcrowded and cemented. There is a Zoo nearby which kids can enjoy.
Hanauma Bay
Hanauma is a marine embayment formed within a tuff ring and located along the southeast coast of the Island of Oʻahu in the Hawaii Kai neighborhood of East Honolulu, in the Hawaiian Islands. Hanauma is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island and has suffered somewhat from overuse.
There is public transport that will take you directly to Hanauma Bay from Kalākaua Avenue.
Diamond Head
Diamond Head is a volcanic tuff cone on the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu and known to Hawaiians as Lēʻahi.
Pearl Harbor National Memorial
The USS Arizona Memorial, at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed on USS Arizona during the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and commemorates the events of that day.
Polynesian Cultural Center
The Polynesian Cultural Center is a Polynesian-themed theme park and living museum located in Laie, on the northern shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and dedicated on October 12, 1963, the PCC occupies 42 acres owned by nearby Brigham Young University–Hawaii.
Lanikai Beach
Lanikai Beach is located in Lanikai, a community in the town of Kailua and on the windward coast of Oahu, Hawaii. Although there is a widespread belief that the name Lanikai means "heavenly sea", that is a misconception and a grammatical error, since in the Hawaiian language, the qualifier comes after the noun.
Sunset Beach
Sunset Beach is on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii and known for big wave surfing during the winter season. The original Hawaiian name for this place is Paumalū.
Sea Life Park Hawaii
Sea Life Park Hawaii is a marine mammal park, bird sanctuary and aquarium in Waimānalo near Makapuʻu Point, north of Hanauma Bay on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.
Dole Plantation Tours
What started out as a Wahiawa fruit stand in the middle of the pineapple fields in 1950 is now an extremely popular Hawaiian attraction. The sprawling Dole Plantation in central Oahu is a rural throwback to a time when the pineapple helped rule Oahu’s economy. Visitors can sample the sweet yellow fruit, ride on the famous Pineapple Express train and motor out through the fields, take a walk through a huge garden maze, learn how to find fresh pineapple when grocery shopping, and hear how pineapples are grown on plants—and not underground or on trees.
